The Midwest Division Spring Conference will be in Wichita April 19 – 22, 2012. It will be at the Best Western Airport Motel and Conference Center, 6815 W. Kellogg Wichita, Ks. 67209  For Hotel Reservations Call 316-942-5600.

The 2012 Kansas State Conference will be hosted by the Air Capital Detachment on 9 June 2012. It will be held at the American Legion Post 401, 101 E. 31st Street South, Wichita Ks. on 9 June 2012 at 09:00 hrs.

1^st Lieutenant Kyle Holsey, son of Dale Holsey (Commandant Wichita Detachment MCL), received his promotion to Captain, USMC on July 1, 2011. (Kyle is also a member of the Wichita Detachment of the  MCL.) Kyle is learning to fly the AV-8B Harrier at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. Currently he is TAD to MCAS Yuma, Arizona attending weapons training. Kyle will be returning to Cherry Point later in August to continue his flight training in Air to Air combat. After being certified in the Harrier, he will be placed into a pilot pool to be a replacement with one of five (5) squadrons stationed at MCAS Cherry Point. Once chosen he will train with the new squadron prior to any deployment. Captain Holsey is a 2007 graduate of Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Kyle began his marine training entering the PLC Program and attending Basic Training at MCRD San Diego 2005. He was then assigned to the reserve center at Oklahoma City continuing his education to complete his college studies. He attended OCS in 2006, then TBS 2007 at Quantico, Virginia. Kyle went on to his flight training at Pensacola and was first in his class at basic flight. He attended advanced training in jets at Meridian, Mississippi where he was named “Top Gun” of his class with 17 air to air victories (surpassing the previous record of 12). Captain Holsey and wife Kelsi currently reside in New Bern, North Carolina.

The Foundation was established in 1990 to raise and collect funds for the charitable and educational activities of the Marine Corps League and to distribute those funds diligently within the mandates of a non-profit 501 C(3) agency as designated by the Internal Revenue Service.

The bulk of the funds distributed annually are directed to the Scholarship program of the Marine Corps League. These scholarships are granted to the children and grandchildren of Marines who have lost their lives in service to their country and to children and grandchildren of members of the Marine Corps League and its Ladies Auxiliary. Applications are encouraged by League members from every state and the local sponsoring Detachment is responsible for determining that the applicant(s) it is sponsoring have demonstrated through activities or interviews that values such as respect, attitude, patriotism and self-discipline are held.
